The Habbie Simpson Gowfin Society is proud to continue its partnership with the STAR Project in 2026, while also supporting St Vincent’s Hospice and sponsoring a player at Houston United, in support of girls’ and women’s football.

STAR Project

The STAR Project is an award-winning community organisation based in Paisley that has been tackling the impacts and stigma of poverty and deprivation since 1999. Through creative, connection-focused and wellbeing-based programmes, it builds resilience and opportunity for people across Renfrewshire

In 2025, the Society was delighted to donate £1,000 to support the STAR Project’s mission to reduce isolation, empower individuals and strengthen community spirit. We are proud to continue that partnership this year.

Treasurer Scott Bogle said:

“The work STAR Project does, particularly during challenging times, reflects the same values of teamwork, community and local pride our society was founded on.”

Accepting the donation, Sharon McAulay, Chief Executive of the STAR Project, added:

“It’s fantastic to have the support of the Habbie Simpson Gowfin Society. Every pound will go towards providing vital support to individuals and families across Renfrewshire.”

St Vincent’s Hospice

This year, the Habbie Simpson Gowfin Society is also proud to be supporting St Vincent’s Hospice. Based in Howwood, the hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people living with life-limiting illnesses, alongside practical and emotional support for their families across Renfrewshire and neighbouring areas of North Ayrshire.

Our donation will help support the hospice’s vital work in ensuring that local people and their loved ones receive compassionate care when they need it most.

Houston United

We are also delighted to sponsor a player at Houston United, a community-rooted local football club, in support of girls’ and women’s football.

By sponsoring a player, the Society hopes to help create more opportunities for girls and women to enjoy the game, develop their skills and be part of a welcoming local football community.
